Uncasvilled, CT show canceled. Mike's blog
Thursday, February 10, 2011
Another show has been canceled due to Chester's bad health. Seems like his illness is more severe than we first thought. Mike posted something concerning this on his blog
LP CANCELLATIONS: DC AND UNCASVILLE February 10, 2011
Hi guys,
We are deeply disappointed that we’ve had to cancel our second show in a row. It’s been a long time since we’ve played in your town, and were excited for you to hear the new music and see the new production. As you know, it’s not often that we have to cancel a gig–Chester appreciates all the love you all have sent on the website, and we know that it will help him to bounce back soon.
We know it’s not the same, but we’d like to give you a free audio download of any show from this tour. If you purchased your tickets through linkinpark.com, check your email over the next few days for details on how you will receive your refund and your download.
Sincerely,
Mike and LP
PS: For updates on Chester’s health and the status of upcoming shows, go to www.linkinpark.com
The other day I got a chance to record a station for IHeartRadio. It’s an online station where we (Chester and I) get to play whatever we want; we host the show ourselves. The best part was that I got really tired of just hearing myself talk, so I started messing around, calling people and bothering them, and even playing some rare Linkin Park tracks (and I think one Fort Minor one). It’s going to go up some time in October. (I asked some of you to send questions and stories via Twitter; thanks for your help making the show interesting.)
In the days between then and now, I’ve been rehearsing with those other five guys to put a show together. We leave for tour in four days. We’re hitting a few places in South America, A bunch of dates in Europe, and a bunch of dates in Australia (What’s up PERTH and ADELAIDE).
Whenever Mike and Chester hosted a show by themselves, expect something extra funny. Hopefully we can got this show soon. Predict another gay strip club inner joke?
Regular version on the left, Special Edition on the right. Check out the rainbows.
Box set is on the way…

We're definitely digging the rainbows, Mike. Anyone who has a physical copy of the album by now, share your thoughts with us!
According to LinkinPark.com, A Thousand Suns' earliest worldwide release date happened today. The album is already No.1 in iTunes: Germany, Australia, Switzerland, Austria. Great news!
Also, if you don't know, then today is World Suicide Prevention Day. Spread some love!

Ana from PFF has attended the pre-listening of the album in Cologne and has an album review up. You can read the full review HERE. From what we have heard so far, this album will be a shock to a lot of people. This might be very well the turning point of Linkin Park, leading them to the better or the worse of their music career. Don't forget to check out the video for "The Catalyst" coming this August 26th.
Also, some important information from Music For Relief: 20 millions people are suffering from the flooding in Pakistan. Give a hand to save their lives. Taken from Mike Shinoda's blog:
Monsoon rains have caused the worst flooding in Pakistan in 80 years. 20 million people have been affected – more than the number of people affected by the 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami, Hurricane Katrina, and the 2010 Haiti earthquake combined.
With their homes and livestock destroyed, millions of families have had their lives turned upside down. Displaced families are camping on roadsides. Many lack shelter, food, and clean water.
MFR is partnering with the UN Refugee Agency to help provide shelter and life-saving aid to millions of people in need. Our goal is to reach and serve 560,000 survivors, but we need your ongoing support.
Here are two ways you can help: Make a donation to help victims of the Pakistan Floods today. Go to www.musicforrelief.org/donate to make a contribution. 100% of your donations will help survivors in Pakistan; MFR is matching individual donations up to $10,000 for this recovery effort.
Or support MFR’s Pakistan Flood Relief on Socialvibe.com. Go to http://www.socialvibe.com/musicforrelief and complete the activities. Even if you are unable to make a financial donation, you can help those affected by the Floods on Socialvibe.com.
Once you’ve taken action, please share your support of MFR for the Pakistan Floods on Facebook, Twitter or forward this email to friends and family and ask them to do the same.
Last but not least, our favorite website LPFiction is in need of help. Donate to keep the site alive! Message from LPFiction:
I am sorry but LPfiction was recently hacked by a computer gaming idiot and we having to get the backup restored as the links to the stories have been lost. We need to raise $75 to pay for this to happen - if you care about the continuation of this website please Donate.
Mike and Chester's iTunes Top Album List. Dark As Day confirmation.
Thursday, August 5, 2010
After Mike asked the fans to help make his 'top album' list on iTunes, he finally decided on an option that brings the best of both worlds. From Mike's blog:
For an upcoming promotion with iTunes, I need to come up with a list. 15 albums, tied together by a theme. Which of the following themes seems the most interesting to you guys? Vote, and I’ll make that list, to put up on iTunes.
EDIT: it looks like the “surprising” list is in the lead…in the comments, tell me what albums you THINK I listen to. If you’re right, I’ll make sure not to include them on the list.
EDIT 2: We decided that since the “surprising” list and the “influence” list were both so popular…Chester is going to do the “surprising albums” list, and I’ll do a “songs that inspired me” list. Best of both worlds…Thanks for your help!
mike
It's very considerate of Mike to come up with this decision, even though we here at Bennoda.com are not very surprised seeing Chester's name. I wish Mike would do the "I paint to" list and Chester the "surprising list", but the major wins, so hopefully we can get to see their lists soon.
Mike also updated his twitter with a retweet from Stryker relating to Prop 8. Nice move ;)
LPAssociation has an interview with Dark As Day's director Levi Holiman where the director confirmed Chester's appearance on the movie but was not sure about Mike, also claimed to be an avid listener of Mike's music
- On how Levi met Chester, and involved him within the project: Chester and I went to High School together in AZ. I had written the "Dark as Day" script, 5 years ago, after moving to Los Angeles. I ran into Chester on the set of "Bleed it out." We hadn't seen each other since 96 maybe? So I told him about the script and asked if he'd be interested in reading it. He gave me his info and I sent it to him.
About a week later, he emailed me and agreed to play a part in the film. We initially wanted to see if he would be good for the lead but because of his busy schedule, he felt it would be better for him to make an appearance in the film rather than committing to the lead. Understandable.
- On whether or not Mike Shinoda will be involved: I don't know Mike Shinoda though. As far as I know, Chester will be the only one from LP involved. I do love Mike and his music. SOB is one of my favorite groups. I listen to "Second to none" almost everyday on my ipod.
- On Mike's name being listed on IMDB: I just checked imdb and have no idea how Mike's name got on the castlist. It would be great to have Mike but I have no other information on that.
No puzzles or hidden messages with this one. We’re excited to finally announce that our new album, A THOUSAND SUNS, will be released on September 14th.
The lead single for the album is called “The Catalyst.” It will be released on August 2nd.
Beginning tomorrow, July 9th, we’re teaming up with MySpace for “Linkin Park, Featuring You,” a contest which gives you the one-of-a-kind opportunity to be on our new album. We’ll be giving you some audio from “The Catalyst,” and you get to take it from there; you can remix the parts, write something over them, or mute stuff and write something totally new. We may choose a remix of the song, and put it on the album…or, we may choose an amazing keyboardist, string quartet, guitarist, percussion group, or other musician, and invite them into the studio to play on one of our songs. No matter what instrument you play, you can win. We’re open to anything good. All we ask is that you include any audible portion of any one of our stems in your submission.
Once you submit, the community (that’s you) will vote, and the most popular stuff will rise to the top. Then, my bandmates and I will comb through the submissions, choose one winner, and they will be included on our album, A THOUSAND SUNS. Check out http://www.myspace.com/linkinpark for contest details.
I think I’ve said enough for now. Thanks for your continued support. We’ve got more announcements coming, so keep checking LinkinPark.com for updates.

Pumped with excitement yet? 67 days to go before we can hold the new album in our hands and listen to their new music. Less than a month before the first single is out. I'm crossing my fingers and hoping that everything will go well. Do you think the new album will exceed everyone's expectation? What do you yourself expect in this album?
Also, linkinpark.com has a new design up for the new album. When you refresh the page, you will get different backgrounds that are portraits of the band members. Here are Mike's and Chester's
These photos along with the jagged Linkin Park logo seems to give out some interesting hints about the album's direction and it seems like Mike's infamous hair will be featured in the new album's artwork ;)
The LPU finally put a new LPU TV episode up! Watch "Slowly, But Firmly" HERE, LPUers. For those who are not in the LPU, we have some screencaps for you with our favorite guys:
Chester showed the audience how to open the door the right way: slowly, but firmly, and right in Mike's face! Even though Mike pretended to be a little sulky and hurt, they were both happy puppies in the end.
Chester was weight lifting next to a very hard-working Robbie banging on his drums - welcome to the guns show! I'm sure some ladies will be pretty happy seeing this. The Delson hair was at its prettiest, and you can spot him on the phone (again) behind Dave. Frat Party At the Pankake Festival DVD moment, anyone?
I gave you too much help on the last puzzle. You’ll have to ask Chester about this one. http://twitter.com/chesterbe
From the message, you can easily pick out the missing letters and have 'The Catalyst' but I'm pretty sure it's not that easy. Mike is being mischievous again! Tweet Chester and urge him to give us more hints now!
Mike confirmed that the answer is 'The Catalyst'. Guess he just wanted to bug the shit out of Chester, ha!
Mister Bennington, live from the Grammy! Watch Chester doing his most important interview last night for Mike Shinoda's blog!
You can download the video above HERE (4.9 mb, .mp4 file)
Chester looked a little tired, heard that he just flew all the way from Japan back to the states for the Grammy, but our boy is still pretty like ever. It's sad that they didn't win, but the spirit remained refreshing.
Mike: "YOU JUST LOST!" Chester: "We just lost to AC/DC." Mike: "YOU DESERVE IT!" Chester: "It was pretty awesome."
Chester was so excited over the fact that they bumped into Rob Halford of Judas Priest and he told them how much he loved Linkin Park. "I did win the affection of Rob Halford!"- he sounds like a happy little boy. Random clueless Bourdie in the background is win for life. Best Grammy interview this year, indeed. You have to love these guys!
Bennoda overload on mikeshinoda.com. Thanks Michael, without you, we REALLY do not know what to do.
PHOTOS AND SINGING January 13, 2010
Our buddy Fiore grabbed some quick photos from the studio the other day. In between working on vocals, we did a "welcome video" for the new lp.com (beta testing now), and took a very handsome photo for Chester's international Visa, so he can go play some Dead By Sunrise shows in Japan...
mike
I tried very hard not to flail from these facts: Mike and Chester working on vocals together, Mike taking Chester's pictures by his camera (Canon PowerShot SD980 IS, lmao thanks Fly <3), Mike called Chester 'handsome' (he can try to sound like he's joking, we all know the truth anyway ;)), and these two being dorky around each other like usual, but Oh. My. God. /flail all the way
Mike must have known that we are greedy for some, even tiniest, Bennoda actions. Thanks a lot, man. Thanks Chus for looking super cute on Mike's cam ;)
Is it me or the rays of light around the Eye of Providence on Mike's shirt look like Brad's hair?
Mike put up a Decade List of Linkin Park history on his blog. Beautifully written and touching. Thank you for being here with us for the last 10 years. We will always appreciate your hard work and friendship!
MY LINKIN PARK "DECADE LIST" January 2, 2010
Ten years ago, I had just quit my job at a tiny graphic design house in North Hollywood. My band was writing our first album, and hoping record it maybe release it someday.
A lot has happened in the past ten years.
Those of you who visit this site probably already know a lot of the big deals in LP history; here is MY DECADE LIST: the top five most underrated (but important) things that happened to Linkin Park in the past ten years…
5 - INTRODUCING OURSELVES TO THE LABEL…THE WRONG WAY 4 - SHANGHAI STADIUM, November 18th, 2007 3 - LINKIN, NOT LINCOLN 2 - MINUTES TO MIDNIGHT 1 - THE RETURN OF PHOENIX (♥)
Read the whole blog post HERE. There was one familiar Bennoda pic in his post ;))
Let's sum up something 2009 on the first day of a new year.
From Mike's chat December 9th 2009
zara19 : Hi Mike, on the songs that you've completed for the album do you rap on them or does Chester take the lead vocals? Thanks for chatting with us, Zara from the Mike Shinoda Clan mshinoda : We're working on 5 songs in particular right now. One has a lot of rapping. Chester and I sing back and forth on one. We sing together on one, and he sings the other two.
We have heard Mike and Chester joining vocals in one song before - but mostly with Mike or Ches being the backing vocal when the other is the dominant voice. A song with both of them together sounds like a VERY good idea (if the song makes its way to the album, out of all those demos). Cross fingers?
Among other things, I got a Nord Electro 3 for Christmas. I can't wait to start using it...we're moving on from the last batch of songs (5) to a new batch. I don't know what songs will be in the new batch. We have about 15 contenders, with some brand new gems that I worked on with Chester and Brad. The first LP studio meeting of 2010 is next Monday, so we'll vote on it then.
They are working hard on the new album. Back in 2005, 2006, 2007, I have seen those new album promises being broken, can we really have a 2010 album? I do hope so.
Two pics taken by jersey during the Moscow concert, 06.06.2007.
On another note, Mike updated his blog claiming to get 5 songs finished for their upcoming album. Seems like the making album session is going really well - cannot wait to see the result in the near future. I am still not sure how they will pull off the album this time though. Harder? Softer? More rap or rock or electronic elements? Will Joe come back, will Chester scream a lot or show off his angelic voice, will Phoenix have some rap parts for himself? Many doors are open right now. Your thoughts?
Kat Corbett has some pics of herself goofing around with Mike and Chester during their "New Divide" world premiering time.
Such dorks, ha.
Thanks Shela for posting this pic on the MB (taken from JoeHahn.org)
I don't remember exactly where this was. A press conference in Taiwan, right? Anyone has information on this pic?
Also, Mike posted this on his web blog but I bet you all have read it (nice update on Linkin Park btw). I'm being a snail, I know, that's what you got from aging :(
...And finally, Dead By Sunrise is out, and doing well on the charts. But more importantly, they're playing in LA soon, which means I'll get to go see the show. For those that missed it, here' DBS on Letterman:
Actually DBS played the Roxy this 19th, but no update from Mike yet, so we have to wait (the fatass must be aging like me, how sad :( I feel you, Mike man. )
Dead By Sunrise's "Out Of Ashes" is in store today. From DBS's facebook:
Chester Bennington and his new band are getting ready for their network TV debut, the same day that their new record, 'Out Of Ashes,' debuts at record outlets everywhere. He's very excited.
(Click image above for the video of Chester getting his makeup done at Ed Sullivan Theater in New York City and talking about the release of his solo album.)
I'm digging his new hairstyle. Mike also showed his support by posting these on his blog
DBS THIS WEEK! October 11, 2009
In case you've been living under a rock, Chester + Dead By Sunrise's "Out Of Ashes" comes out this week. Mark your calendars!
mike
And another one today

Mike's blog: LP in Shanghai. Dead By Sunrise's new single.
Sunday, August 16, 2009
Michael recently blogged a picture of Chester and himself at the Shanghai show. Our boys looks dazzling.
LINKIN PARK IN SHANGHAI 2009
August 15, 2009
A good pic from the show in Shanghai last night. This was the same venue that hosted this year's Olympic events. It was an amazing show, and a fantastic experience in China all-around. A big thanks to our Chinese fans and friends who helped make these shows a reality!

Don't forget to check out Dead By Sunrise's newest burning hot single Crawl Back In on their MYSPACE. The song will be available on iTunes on Tuesday.
Someone write a fic with this Chesterella character, kk?
Also, LPtimes reported that August issue of Japanese magazine, Grindhouse, will have an interview with Mike and Chester about Linkin Park and Dead By Sunrise. Sound great! Have a sneak peek at the cover HERE
Studio update: still making progress on the new album. Still working on that one song, too, ha. Things are going well. I thought I'd put up a few pictures of the guys for you to see. My favorite one is of me and Phoenix--it looks like I'm saying, "that bassline is kinda...eh...not so good." (I'm actually just talking to someone who's not in the frame)
In other news, Chester is mixing his solo album (Dead By Sunrise). I think he said Chris Lord-Alge is mixing.
Lots of music going on in LP land these days...
Read his post at mikeshinoda.com for more pics.

Read about Amazon deranked homosexual books yesterday on Social Vibe. This is utterly ridiculous. Voice your opinion and sign a competition opposing Amazon's new discriminating 'adult' policy. Thank you.
Things are not looking good for Amazon.com. The powerful anything-and-everything website that began as an online bookstore recently made the decision to strip all books with "adult material" from their rankings. Among them? All books with gay and lesbian content.
What does this mean? No matter how popular a book gets, it will never show up in the "best sellers" list. It will also be excluded from all search results.
"In consideration of our entire customer base, we exclude "adult" material from appearing in some searches and best seller lists. Since these lists are generated using sales ranks, adult materials must also be excluded from that feature.
Hence, if you have further questions, kindly write back to us.
Best regards,

The LGBTQ community is outraged and have even begun a petition to have the decision reversed.
What's your take? Is this total bull or it is justified? Sound off in the comments!
