TYPHOON KETSANA (ONDOY) HITS PHILIPPINES, VIETNAM
MUSIC FOR RELIEF IS RAISING FUNDS FOR RECOVERY IN THE PHILIPPINES. MAKE A DONATION HEREOver 500,000 people have been displaced in the Philippines since tropical storm Ketsana (locally known as Ondoy) struck on Saturday September 26 bringing severe damage and flooding. 1.9 million people are said to be affected by the disaster in the Philippines, Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia.
Another super Typhoon is headed towards the badly damaged region and is expected to make landfall this weekend.

The Indonesian island of Sumatra was hit by a powerful 7.6 magnitude earthquake on Wednesday September 30th followed by a second quake on Thursday October 1st. According to the U.N. 1,100 people have been killed and those numbers are expected to rise as the search and rescue efforts continue. The full extent of the damage cannot yet be measured but is is known that in Padang alone, at least 500 homes are caved in, hospitals, schools and other buildings have collapsed.
